Mark Gurman, in this weeks’s Power On newsletter, states that due to manufacturing complexities, the new M2-powered Mac Pro has been delayed. The cost involved in manufacturing the rumored M2 Extreme chip — essentially 2 M2 Ultra chips with a total of 48 CPU cores and 152 graphics cores — would likely push the cost of such a Mac Pro to nearly $10,000, rendering it a very niche product. This, along with a potential change in manufacturing locations (Arizona?), have sparked a rethink at Apple. It could very well be that the next Mac Pro focuses more on expandability rather than raw power. In the meantime, Apple is reportedly working on M2 Pro and M2 Max versions of the 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros…
