Apple Running Out Of Original iPads

Electronista notes that Apple showed the first signs it’s running entirely dry of original iPads on Thursday after the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad disappeared from the online Apple Store, with neither the clearance nor refurb sections showing the basic model. Only 32GB and 64GB Wi-Fi capacities exist alongside the 3G models, and the clearance section now only has 3G models.

Oddly (or perhaps not), here in Canada where your editor resides, the Apple Store still has all iPad 1 models in stock (at this writing), but is still listing them at the regular prices starting at CAN$549.00 for the entry-level WiFi 16 GB model, while the iPad 2 16 GB WiFi unit is quoted at CAN$519.00 (but with a 3-4 week wait). Clearly, aside from availability, the iPad 1 is no bargain. As of Friday morning, the Apple Store Canada is sold out of Certified Refurbished iPads.
