Here are the Macs Apple is testing with their next-generation M3 chip

Apple M3 ChipApple is ramping up testing on Macs with the company’s next-generation M3 chip, which may be introduced as early as October this year. As reported earlier, Apple is testing several new MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, and iMacs with the new chip. Recently, another M3 Mac with an eight-core CPU (four efficiency cores and four performance cores), ten graphics processor cores, and 24 gigabytes of memory was discovered, thought to be an M3-powered Mac mini.

As of now, here are all of the M3 Macs that have been spotted: the 13-inch MacBook Air (codenamed Mac 15,1 and J513/J613), the 15-inch MacBook Air (codenamed Mac 15,2 and J515/J615), the 13-inch MacBook Pro (codenamed Mac 15,3 and J504), the iMac (codenamed Mac 15,4, Mac 15,5, J433 and J434), the Pro and Max 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros (codenamed Mac 15,7, Mac 15,8, J514 and J516), and a potential M3 Mac mini (codenamed Mac 15,12).

The basic M3 chip offers the same cores as the M2 chip (eight CPU and 10 graphics cores), while the M3 Pro is stronger with 12 CPU cores and 18 graphics cores. A high-end M3 Max could have 14 CPU cores and above 40 graphics cores. However, the Mac business is not doing too well, with Apple predicting a double-digit decline in Mac revenues in the fourth quarter of this fiscal year. It’s thought that no new Macs will be released until at least the start of October, and maybe not until early 2024, so existing Macs will have to do until then.
