Aerospace Company Designs Co-Pilot App to Defeat Distracted Driving

With distracted driving due to phone use the new impaired driving, and the summer road trip season underway, Ottawa, Ontario based Specific Range Solutions offers AutoAdvisory 2.0, a full-featured iPhone app that helps ensure that drivers keep their attention focused where it belongs — on the road.

Canada’s National Safety Council estimates that one-quarter of all vehicle collisions are now attributable to phone use. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately nine people are killed and more than 1,000 injured each day on United States streets and highways in crashes that are reported to involve a distracted driver.

AutoAdvisory 2.0 significantly reduces the risk of distracted driving by operating as a vigilant co-pilot. The intelligently interactive app advises the driver not to use their iPhone when driving is detected, continuously monitors their device to ensure it’s not unlocked during the trip, and provides feedback at the end of the trip via the Auto Debrief feature — all while maintaining privacy and not affecting the functionality of your iPhone.

“Our ultimate goal is to save lives. The solution therefore needed to be safe, effective and reliable. We are an aerospace engineering company, and I am a commercially rated pilot, so we applied the same level of rigor in designing AutoAdvisory 2.0 as we do for our aerospace clients,” says Omer Majeed, founder, Specific Range Solutions Ltd.

AutoAdvisory 2.0 also enables drivers to share their safe driving milestones via Facebook and Twitter with family and friends. These milestones could be used by a parent to reward a teen with a tank of gas for safe driving, or a fleet manager to incentivize drivers to keep their focus on the road.

AutoAdvisory 2.0 is available on the App Store today for $0.99 USD/$1.39 CAN and provides the following new functionality to protect you, your loved ones, and others from the consequences of distracted driving.

AutoAdvisory requires iOS 9.3 or later on an iPhone plugged into a Bluetooth-equipped vehicle or the vehicle charger in order to function, and runs in the background once it’s turned on. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
