Dell Launches World’s First 17-inch Convertible Laptop in Brilliant Colors

Apple and other laptop makers have stepped away from the 17-inch display laptop form factor, frustrating users who liked the vast expanse of screen real estate. Having used a 17-inch PowerBook for four years as my main system back in the day, I understand the attraction.

Now Dell is providing 17-inch display fans with an option in the hot-selling convertible or 2 in 1 laptop category. Today at Computex 2016, the largest IT trade fair in Asia, Dell unveiled a new line of Inspiron 2-in-1s including the Inspiron 17 7000 — which the company believes is the world’s first 17-inch 2-in-1 laptop.

These latest additions to Dell’s product lineup are designed to deliver strong performance with an array of choices to meet customer needs in its premium 7000 Series, mainstream 5000 Series, and entry-level 3000 Series. These new devices are available with a wide range of processor options and configurable features.

“With our new Inspiron 2-in-1 lineup, customers can work where they need to and play when they want to,” says Ray Wah, vice president, Dell Consumer Product Marketing. “Whatever you can create or imagine, you can achieve it with the 2-in-1 laptop best suited to your needs. Dell is thrilled that our innovative technology can help make your creation a reality. Our customers inspire us, and we keep on innovating for them.”

Dell’s Inspiron 13-, 15- and 17-inch 7000 2-in-1s offer aluminum design architecture and high performance with 6th Gen Intel “Skylake” Core processor options. The 7000s include upscale features as standard, such as wide-viewing angle screen with FHD resolution, backlit keyboard for typing in dim environments and an infrared camera that works with Windows Hello to allow users to log in with just a look. The standard precision touchpad delivers precise pointing and gesture recognition, while Waves MaxxAudio Pro audio software enhances the multimedia experience and 802.11ac wireless provides improved range and speed.

The Inspiron 7000 2-in-1s make use of Dell’s optional USB Type C adapter which has ports for HDMI and VGA displays, Ethernet connection and a USB 3.0 port to support external hard drives, printers, and scanners. Available Dell Power Companions can connect to the USB Type C port, adding up to 6 hours of additional battery life for the 13- and 15-inch 7000s, and up to 5 additional hours for the 17-inch system.
