Heal to Launch First One-Touch House Call Doctor Service for Apple Watch
Santa Monica, California based Heal, a pioneer in on-demand personal health care services — will offer the first one-touch, on-demand house call doctor app for the Apple Watch.
Heal’s Watch app, available for free download with the Apple Watch from April 24, 2015, will introduce the first-ever, one-touch process to request a fully vetted and licensed doctor to arrive at a person’s home or office in under an hour.
Unlike traditional doctor visits that last an average of 10-15 minutes, Heal doctors spend as much time as needed with each patient for a fixed fee of $99 ñ anytime 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week.
All doctors are fully equipped with state-of-the-art tools necessary for a mobile doctor visit, including an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to send prescriptions electronically, order labs and refer patients to a specialist, AliveCor ECG and CellScope otoscope.
“When you or your child wakes up sick, you need the simplest and most trustworthy way possible to get a doctor fast,” says Dr. Renee Dua, Board Certified Physician and Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Heal. “With a single tap on the wrist, Heal’s new Apple Watch app lets you skip the long wait times and hassle of a traditional doctor’s office with a network of world-class physicians willing to come to you.”
“It was imperative to make our service available evenings and weekends, so working moms like me could see a doctor without having to miss work,” says Dr. Dua. “Affordability is also a key focus, and when you factor in co-pays, driving time, parking costs and lost wages associated with traditional doctor appointments, Heal’s $99 visit is an extremely compelling and viable alternative for American families.”
“By seeing patients in their homes, Heal doctors like myself have the opportunity to be more than just urgent care on wheels,” says Dr. Janani Krishnaswami, Board Certified Physician in Internal and Preventive Medicine, who offers her services on Heal. “I understand their environment and family, and can be a true partner with the family in a way I could never do in a rushed office setting.”
Heal was founded by first-time mom and entrepreneur Dr. Dua, who has surrounded herself with a world-class team of health and technology experts to build and launch Heal. Early angel investors include Qualcomm Executive Chairman Dr. Paul Jacobs, Former Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Jamie McCourt and even Grammy and Oscar winner Lionel Richie. Advisors include Dr. Bart Wald, Former Regional President of Providence Hospitals and Manan Shah, Vice President of Commercial Strategy for insurance giant Anthem Blue Cross. Just three weeks ago, Heal won the coveted Moneyball prize at the Montgomery Summit in Los Angeles.
Heal is currently available across all neighborhoods in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
