Hisense Announces $149 Chromebook To Be Sold By Walmart

Google announced this week that they have partnered with Qingdao, China based consumer electronics products multinational Hisense on the company’s new Hisense Chromebook, which will sell for $149.

The Hisense Chromebook features a textured lid to provide a sure grip, and a metal palm-rest to stiffen the device’s structure and enhancing comfort while typing. Compact enough for throwing in your bag to take with you on the go, the Hisense Chromebook weighs just 2.5 pounds and is 19.5 mm thick with an 11.6” 1366 x 768 (same as the 11.6-inch MacBook Air) resolution LED Backlit HD display screen (for comparison, the 11.6-inch MacBook Air tips the scale at 2.38 pounds and tapers from 3 to 17 mm thick). HIsense Chromebook dimensions are 0.76 x 11.42 x 8.03 x inches (11-6″ MBA – 0.11-0.68 x 11.8 x 7.56 inches). Hisense claims up to 8.5 hours battery life — enough to support a full working or school day.

Powered by a 1.8 GHz ARM Cortex-A17 Quad-Core processor, the Hisense Chromebook has 2GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory, 16GB eMMC on-board storage, a 1 x Micro-SD Card Reader, 802.11ac/a/b/g/n Wireless LAN, one each DC-in, HDMI, and Headphone/Microphone ports and two USB 2.0 ports.
