Anand Lal Shimpi Retires From AnandTech

Anand Lal Shimpi, whose AnandTech Website is famous for its meticulously detailed and thoroughgoing reviews and analysis, is packing it in. Lal Shimpi, who founded the tech site at age 14 in 1997, says that “after 17.5 years of digging, testing, analyzing and writing about the most interesting stuff in tech, itís time for a change.”

He hastens to add that while he is officially retiring from the tech publishing world, AnandTech is doing very well and will continue under the guidance of new Editor in Chief Ryan Smith who has been with the site for nearly 10 years, he has a strong background in Computer Science and heís been shadowing me quite closely for the past couple of years. I am fully confident in Ryanís ability to carry the torch and pick up where I left off. Weíve grown the staff over the course of this year in anticipation of the move. With a bunch of new faces around AnandTech, all eager to uphold the high standards and unique approach to covering tech, I firmly believe the site can continue to thrive for years to come.
