Acer First to Launch Chromebook with Intel Core i3 (Haswell) Processor

Acer has announced the first Chromebook to market powered by a 4th Generation (Haswell) Intel Core i3 processor. The Acer C720 Chromebook is now available in two new Intel Core i models that are claimed to achieve battery life of up to 8.5 hours.

Acer is the leading Chromebook vendor with a 46.7 percent market share in this category.

The Acer C720 Chromebook will be available in two models with a 4th Generation Intel Core i3-40005U processor (1.7GHz, 3MB L3 cache). The Acer C720-3404 will have 4GB of memory and will be priced at $379.99, while the Acer C720-3871 will have 2GB of memory and will be priced at $349.99. They will be available this month at retailers in North America.

Like other Acer C720 models, the new C720-3404 and C720-3871 will have fast 32GB Solid State Drive(3) that boots up in less than 7 seconds and resumes nearly instantly from sleep mode.

Selling for less than an iPad mini or Microsoft Surface 2, and $hundreds less than an 11.6-inch MacBook Air . Acer Chromebooks are a solution worth considering for families, classrooms and anyone that needs a simple and secure computer to share between multiple users. Chrome OS is updated regularly and automatically, so users can enjoy the latest features including multiple layers of security such as data encryption and verified boot that defend the Acer C720 Chromebook against online threats, malware and viruses. The new Chrome OS models have an 11.6-inch “ComfyView” HD display with a 1366×768 resolution, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, including ability to connect by video chats with the integrated HD webcam and microphone. The Acer C720 also connects to a range of peripherals and external displays via HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports.

The C720 Chromebooks are equipped with Intel HD Graphics 4400, stereo speakers, HD audio, webcam, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI, a card reader, and come with a 1-year limited warranty. Color: Granite Gray
