GESTURE Chair by Steelcase Provides Ergonomic Support For Tablet, Smartphone, And Traditional Keyboard Users
Steelcase’s new GESTURE is a state-of-the art computer user’s chair designed to support the occupant’s posture as it changes while they work, whether you’re using a tablet, a smartphone or a traditional keyboard.
The developer claims that Gesture is the first chair designed to support user interactions with today’s technologies, inspired by the movement of the human body and created for the way we work today with touchscreens and touchpads. They note that technology is the single greatest force driving changes in the way we work, live and behave, and the multiple devices we deploy throughout our workday allow us to flow between tasks, fluidly and frequently.
And yet, they observe that while our technologies have continued to advance, no one has designed support furniture tailored to optimize the impact of these technologies on the human body, or for the physiology of how work happens today. Until now.
The GESTURE chair is not inexpensive, starting at $979, but will be a justifiable expense if it spares users from the productivity inhibiting effects of repetitive stress injury, and comfort can be priceless.
