New Google HP Chromebook 11 The First Notebook to Use Analogix’s SlimPort

Analogix Semiconductor, Inc. has announced that the new HP Chromebook 11 ultraportable notebooks feature built-in SlimPort interface solution, which allows users to connect with high-resolution HDTVs, monitors and projectors over a single standard mobile USB connector to give presentations or play movies and video games on the big screen, while using very little power.

The new HP Chromebook 11 is the first SlimPort-enabled device to use Google’s Chrome operating system. Previous SlimPort-enabled products, including Googles Nexus 4 smartphones and Nexus 7 tablet computers, have used either Android or other operating systems. HPs new Chromebook is also the first SlimPort-enabled product to support Samsung’s Exynos family of ARM processors.

“HP Chromebook 11 underscores the versatility of SlimPort, which is now supporting multiple processors, operating systems and product form factors,” says Andre Bouwer, vice president of marketing for Analogix. “We expect SlimPort to become the de-facto mobile interface solution for display, data and charging over mobile USB connectors.”

SlimPort’s low-power solutions help to extend the battery life of portable devices, and enable their batteries to recharge during playback when plugged into a powered DisplayPort or HDMI display. The HP Chromebook 11 is compatible with all SlimPort accessories available today or coming soon to the market: SlimPort to HDMI adapter (SP1003), SlimPort to VGA adapter (SP2003) and SlimPort HDMI/VGA Combo adapter (SP1202).

Analogix Semiconductor is a leading supplier of DisplayPort-compliant semiconductors and IP products used in notebooks, tablets and other mobile devices. The DisplayPort standard is an innovative, packetized digital interface for high-resolution video and audio that was developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). Analogix SlimPort products are based on DisplayPort technology.
