DE-light Lamp LED Table Lamp by Philippe Starck Charges iPod, iPhone and iPad
Renowned Italian lighting manufacturer Flos has introduced the DE-light table lamp designed by celebrated French product designer, Philippe Starck.
A simple yet sophisticated light in polished aluminum featuring a USB socket above the light diffuser for an iPod, iPhone or iPad, the highly efficient lamp also features a 2700K Flat Panel for 299 total Lumens. Flos’s combination of lighting and informational technology has resulted in an object that is perfectly attuned to the contemporary habits of an always-connected society.
“It was only a matter of time before Philippe Starck turned his mind to such a popular, desirable and useful object as the iPad,” says Flos CEO Piero Gandini. “The resulting creation satisfies our daily need for information, knowledge and entertainment while incorporating a radical yet extremely functional design.”
Known for his cutting-edge design aesthetic and the functionality of his creations, Philippe Starck describes his DE- light lamp as “When the iPad, a source of information, becomes a source of light.” Playing on the double meaning of illumination, the DE-light both lights and enlightens, and will undoubtedly become an instant classic in the Flos catalog.
First introduced at a special event with menswear designer Ermenegildo Zegna during Euroluce 2011, the DE-light will be available in December 2011 in limited quantities in the United States. It will be sold exclusively through Flos New York showroom located at 152 Greene St., New York, NY 10012; Tel. 212/941-4760.
