PowerBook Buyer's Guide

PowerBook Duo 2300c

by Steve Hildreth

The 2300c was the first, and last, PowerPC Duo. The 2300c retained all the docking options available to the 200-series Duos, and their lightweight, while adding a 100 MHz PowerPC processor, a 9.5 inch active-matrix color screen, and an improved double-clickable trackpad. This was almost the ultimate Duo for the discriminating road warrior, lacking only a faster processor and a larger screen. The Duo series was superceded by the 2400c, which was a different interpretation of the lightweight subnotebooks, and one that didn't need docking. For those who need a portable while on the road, but use their desktop machines while at home, the lightweight 2300c is hard to beat, especially on the used market at prices that are half that of the 2400c.
