Apple details keyboard service program for 12″ MacBooks and 13″/15″ MacBook Pros

Some owners of 2015-2017 12″ MacBooks and 2016-2017 MacBook Pros have experienced issues with their butterfly keyboards in which keys get stuck, or letters repeat or don’t appear at all. To address the problem, Apple has announced a Keyboard Service Program for certain models.

The following MacBook models are eligible for the program:

– MacBook (Retina, 12-­inch, Early 2015)
– MacBook (Retina, 12­-inch, Early 2016)
– MacBook (Retina, 12-­inch, 2017)
– MacBook Pro (13­-inch, 2016, Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
– MacBook Pro (13-­inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
– MacBook Pro (13-­inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
– MacBook Pro (13-­inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
– MacBook Pro (15-­inch, 2016)
– MacBook Pro (15-­inch, 2017)

If you own one of these MacBooks and are experiencing issues with your keyboard’s functionality, visit an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Technicians will determine if your MacBook qualified for the program and which type of service is necessary. Apple may replace certain keys or the entire keyboard.
