Dell and Google Launch Premium Professional Chromebook

Dell has announced continued expansion of its collaboration with Google with the launch of the Dell Chromebook 13, a premium 13.3-inch business-class professional Chromebook solution. The Dell Chromebook 13 can be powered by up to 5th generation Intel Core i5 processors, and provides a claimed up to 12 hours of battery life inside a sleek form factor. The Dell Chromebook 13 joins Dell’s existing Chrome portfolio and further showcases Dell and Google’s commitment to developing innovative and flexible solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of the mobile workforce.

The new Dell Chromebook offers a range of options for performance, speed and mobility, with available Intel Celeron, Core i3 and i5 processors supported by up to 8GB (ii) of system memory, and up to 12 hour battery life (i) allowing for all day business productivity while on the move. With Chromebook’s seamless connectivity, fast boot time and high performance, users can be fully productive wherever they are, and able to collaborate seamlessly with a 720p HD video webcam, a Full High Definition IPS display and dual array microphones all designed to integrate with Google Hangouts.

Distinguished Look and Feel

The Chromebook 13 features premium chassis materials including a carbon fiber weave cover, magnesium alloy palm rest and aluminum base making it both light and sturdy. The 13.3-inch full high definition IPS display offers bright luminance and wider viewing angles with both touch and anti-glare non-touch options available. In addition, the displays are designed to provide long life, durability and high scratch resistance with the Corning Gorilla Glass NBT touch solution. The backlit keyboard and the touchpad are claimed to provide a balance of usability and maximum accuracy, and constructed to meet the needs of a mobile workforce.

The Chromebook 13 also includes the Google Hangout experience with the full high definition IPS display and dual array microphones with integrated stereo speakers.

Secure, Manageable and Reliable

Dell Chromebook 13 customers can take advantage of Dell’s manageability, security and desktop virtualization solutions. The Chromebook is supported by Dell’s unique IP from Dell KACE, providing inventory management and service desk support. Additionally, Dell SonicWALL Mobile Connect (VPN) app, in combination with a Dell Secure Mobile Access appliance or next-generation firewall, provides secure access to authorized company resources, access reporting and tracking. Optional Content Filter subscription services available with Dell firewalls provide URL filtering and browser protection. Dell Wyse vWorkspace desktop virtualization software, a central part of the Dell Appliance for Wyse – vWorkspace solution, enables organizations to seamlessly and securely access Windows applications on the new Chromebook 13 via the vWorkspace Connector for Chrome OS (available in the Chrome Web Store). The Chromebook 13 offers Google’s cloud-based management console to simplify deployment, and centrally manage, update and track systems.

World-Class Support

Dell’s newest support service, ProSupport Plus for PCs and tablets, is available to Dell Chromebook 13 customers. (iii) ProSupport Plus combines priority access to expert support 24×7, repair for drops, spills and other mishaps, and a Technical Account Manager (TAM) for customers with more than 1,000 entitled systems.

The Dell Chromebook 13 starts at USD $399.00 and will be available beginning September 17 in the U.S. and Canada.
