34% prefer iPhone 5 over iPad Mini – Pricegrabber Survey
With rumors spooling up about Apple’s potential unveiling of the so-called iPad Mini and iPhone 5 on September 12, PriceGrabber.com releases the results of its latest consumer survey. Conducted August 21-30, the survey includes responses from 1,740 U.S. online shopping consumers.
Survey highlights include:
34% of Respondents Prefer the iPhone 5 Debut Over the iPad Mini this Month
When survey respondents were asked which rumored Apple product they would prefer to debut this September:
34% selected the iPhone 5
28% said the iPad Mini
38% said both products
21% Plan an iPhone 5 Purchase and 13% Plan an iPad Purchase
21% of survey respondents plan to purchase the iPhone 5 expected to launch in September (35% of respondents already own an iPhone)
13% of respondents plan to purchase the iPad Mini expected to launch in September (25% of respondents already own an iPad)
61% Cite Smaller Size as Main Reason for iPad Mini Purchase
When respondents planning to buy the iPad Mini were asked to select all of the reasons why they would consider purchasing the product:
61% indicated smaller size, more portable
42% said lower price point compared to other iPads
32% said it would be useful for work purposes
31% said they love Apple products and always purchase the latest and greatest
30% indicated it would make a great gift
45% Plan to Purchase iPad Mini before the End of 2012
When respondents planning to buy the iPad Mini were asked when they would consider purchasing the product:
45% said before the end of 2012
22% said within the first year of its release
18% said within the first month of its release
15% said within the first week of its release
16% Plan to Purchase the iPhone 5 Within the First Week of its Release
When respondents planning to buy the iPhone 5 were asked when they would consider purchasing the product:
16% said within the first week of its release
19% said within the first month of its release
29% said within the first year of its release
36% said before the end of 2012
Consumers Plan to Buy iPhone 5 for New Features
When respondents planning to buy the iPhone 5 were asked to select all of the reasons why they would consider purchasing the product:
50% said they have an iPhone but are looking forward to the new features
34% said they have been wanting to switch to an iPhone from another brand and
would like the latest version
23% said they love Apple products and always purchase the latest and greatest
18% said the plan to use the newest iPhone for business purposes
7% of consumers plan to give it as a gift
