MagSafe 2 Adapter Released With New/Refreshed MacBooks

With the new and upgraded laptop models Apple announced yestarday comes a new “MagSafe 2” power supply cord connector – the first visible alteration to the MagSafe since it was first introduced in 2006. MagSafe 2 is longer and thinner, and Apple is making a $9.99 adapter available to use older chargers with the new laptops for users with an investment in multiple older power supplies.

Apple Switches From AMD to NVIDIA With MacBook Pro Models

Appleinsider’s Mikey Campbell reports that with the announcement of its next generation and refreshed MacBook Pro models at WWDC on Monday, Apple showed its intent to move away from discrete AMD Radeon video cards to new Kepler-based silicon from NVIDIA on both MacBook Pro platforms – old and new.
Campbell notes that Apple will continue to use Intel’s HD integrated chipset family which a the default graphics baseline for all MacBook models from the 11-inch Air to the Retina display Pro.

Apple’s Power Nap Lets Macs Update While Asleep

MacFixIt’s Daniel Terdiman reports that Apple unveiled a new OS X feature – Power Nap – at the WWDC that will let Macs update, do Time Machine backups, and more while asleep,

Power Nap is available on second-generation MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros with Retina Displays.
