Samsung (Prematurely?) Unveils Ivy Bridge Processor And GTX 675M GPU Powered Laptop Details

Samsung posted, perhaps unintentionally, information on its forthcoming NP700G7C laptop featuring Intel’s as yet unreleased Ivy Bridge Core i CPU architecture.

The Samsung marketing copy touts “cutting edge design: Sleek aluminum, a stunning screen, cutting edge performance, all seamlessly blended in one of the worlds thinnest quad core PC.”

Features are to include Samsung’s Fast Start technology which lets you simply close the lid to enter a hybrid sleep mode. When you open the lid, you’re up and running in as little as two seconds.

The display uses Samsung’s Superbright Technology, with screen brightness claimed to be 36% – 50% brighter than conventional screens and 16 million colors. Samsung says its Power Plus battery technology will retain 80% of the original battery capacity for up to 1,500 charges, so even after 3 years of use, you still have a battery that works for you day in and day out.

ExpressCache hybrid technology provides 8GB of flash memory on the motherboard that works as an ultra fast HDD. Its intelligent, automatic caching is claimed to take 45% less time to boot up.

The NP700G7C’s specs. include an Intel 2.30GHz Core i7 Processor 3610QM with 6MB L3 cache, and a 17.3″ 1920 x 1080 display driven by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M GPU with 2GB of DDR5 VRAM, a maximum 16GB of system RAM, 2TB of hard drive capacity, Blu-Ray, 802.11 abg/n Wireless LAN support, Bluetooth v4.0, Gigabit Wired Ethernet LAN, HDMI and VGA video output, 2 USB 3.0 Ports, 2 USB 2.0 Ports, Headphone Out, Microphone In, RJ45, and a 7-in-1 Multi Card Slot (MS, MS Pro, SD, SDHC, MMC, MMC plus, xD).

This is no Ultrabook, weighing in at a porky 8.39 lbs. and measuring

16.1″ (W) x 11.2″ (D) x 1.29″ ~ 1.96″ (H) in dimensions, but considering the specification, it seems reasonably priced at $1,699.99.
