Apple Releases OS X Lion USB Installer Thumb Drive

OS X Lion is now available on a USB thumb drive for installation without the need for a broadband Internet connection – but at a stiff price – $69.00.

It does provide the convenience and peace-of-mind of being able to just plug the drive into your USB port and follow the instructions to install.

OS X Lion is of course also available for $29.99 as a digital download from the Mac App Store. Hmmm. That means Apple is charging forty bucks for the physical thumb drive media. Hard to justify by any rational measure and consequently representing another not-too-gentle shove into the iCloud.

The thumb drive installer currently ships in 1-3 business days.
