Apple Releases OS X 10.6.8 v.1.1 Updates

Hard on the heels of Monday’s release of an OS X 10.6.8 Supplemental Update on Monday, Apple has now posted full scale OS X 10.6. v.1.1 Update installers for download in both client and server versions with incremental and full combo alternatives. I heartily reccommend the latter, which will probably be the definitive version of OS X 10.7 Snow Leopard for perpetuity, save for some likely minor security updates for as long as Apple chooses to support this OS version.

Issues addressed in the OS X 10.6.8 v 1.1 update include:

• Fixes problems with network printers pausing print jobs and failing to complete
• Fixes system audio failing when using HDMI or optical audio out
• Solves problems transferring data from a Snow Leopard Mac to a new Mac running 10.7 Lion
• Enhances the Mac App Store to get your Mac ready to upgrade to Mac OS X Lion
• Resolves an issue that may cause Preview to unexpectedly quit
• Improves support for IPv6
• Improves VPN reliability
• Identifies and removes known variants of Mac Defender virus

Reports of OS 10.6.8 bugginess have inclined me to stick with version 10.6.7 up to now, but I’ve downloaded the 10.6.8 v 1.1 Combo updater, and will get around to intalling it as soon as I have the spare time to do so. Inevitably, future application software releases from Apple and third-partiies will demand 10.6.8.
