New MacBook Pro Case Design Coming?
MacFixIt’s Joe Aimonetti reports that a new rumor has Apple working on a new MacBook Pro case design to replace the current, now going on three years old unibody aluminum case design.
The new unibody case design is said to be projected to be ready in time for the next revision of the MacBook Pro, with the early 2011 MBP refresh being the last revision using the current case design that was originally introduced in October, 2008, which would make its service life tenure substantially shorter than that of the “classic” MacBook Pro case, which was essentially carried over from the early ’00s vintage aluminum G4 PowerBooks.
Actually, a redesign of the MacBook Pro case has been conjectured since the release of the ultra-thin wedge-profiled second generation MacBook Air last October, and it’s a pretty safe bet that the MacBook Pro case redesign will adopt design elements from the 2G Air, and possibly some heretofore idevice features like touch-screen support to take full advantage of Mac OS X 7 Lion’s new touch-friendlness cribbed from the iOS.
