PowerBook 190cs
by Steve Hildreth
The 190cs is the passive-matrix color version of the 190. Otherwise they are identical. The color screen is heavier (by 0.5 lbs.), draws more power from the battery, and is marginally more expensive. For the road warrior who demands light weight and doesn't mind working in grayscale, the 190 may be the better choice. But for working with graphics or playing games on the road, the 190cs is the model to get. Used 190cs' are offered at reasonable prices, and adding options such as a PowerPC processor, more RAM, a video-out card makes this a reasonably powerful machine at a modest price.
