iPhone 6 Plus To Account For 60 Percent Of Total iPhone 6 Shipments – Digitimes Sources
Digitimes’ Cage Chao and Steve Shen report that unnamed industry sources inform them that iPhone 6 Plus sales of will be higher than anticipated, and will account for some 60 percent of total iPhone 6 device shipments. That projection is based on recent shipments of analog ICs to the two iPhone 6 device producers; Foxconn Electronics which produces the iPhone 6 Plus and Pegatron Technology — Apple’s supplier for the iPhone 6.
Chao and Shen observe that the higher-than-expected iPhone 6 Plus sales may inflict even more harm to sales of Apple’s 7.9-inch iPad mini than had been expected. That appears likely, and there has even been speculation that the mini may get passed over for the tranche of upgrades the iPad Air 2 is anticipated to come with when it’s announced in a couple of weeks time.
Personally, this writer finds it hard to imagine that a 5.5-inch display device could ever be a satisfactory substitute for a real tablet. In my estimation, even the iPad mini is about the lower limit of what I could live with for what I do with my iPad. However, it seems that there are plenty who beg to differ.
